Leela Botanicals
Leela means "Divine Play". The name is inspiring because if describes the breathtaking creativity of the universe. A universe in a playful dance that gives rise to a myriad of things with infinite diversity and beauty.

The intimate connection between humans and our environments has always been interesting. From both a spiritual, emotional and physical perspective.

I have Sudanese heritage. And growing up I found myself often very fascinated by the stories of how my grandmother used to solve every day problems and treat diseases by understanding nature. She always seemed to know the perfect herb for any ailment, or how to use herbs to clean water from a river. And even how her tribe used herbs ceremonially to reach certain states of consciousness as a preparation for marriage. Hearing a lot of these stories began my curiosity for the vast potential that natural herbs hold.

When I grew older I realized that we have a lot to learn from ancient wisdom traditions. In our modern and increasingly urbanized world, most products are sadly over processed and disconnected from their natural origins. And even if we have a lot to thank modern day chemistry for, there are a lot of mistakes done with concentrated chemicals that create harm.

As I started looking into herbs that were recommended to me by various herbalists and elders with this knowledge, I was very surprised to know how vast this universe of herbs is. And how little we actually know about it. And while sharing with others I also discovered how much people long to know again. That this fascination is shared by so many people. Even among people who never cared to think about this ever before.

So when Leela Botanicals was born, it was in support of this collective reconnection to the natural world and in honoring elders and their wisdom.

Leela Botanicals has also made a commitment to sustainability, and to keep it at the heart of everything we do. From working closely with suppliers who share our vision of preserving local ecosystems and ensuring fair working conditions. We do what we can to approach every aspect of our business with the highest ethical standards. We also take great care to understand the cultivation processes, ensuring the herbs we offer are grown in a way that respects the environment and its natural balance.

We want our customers to feel as connected to the herbs, as much as we are.

Whether you are looking to support your mental, physical or emotional health, we want to be here to offer natural, effective, and sustainable solutions for a healthier, more balanced life. We are still a very young and small business. Currently working with only one herb. The reason is to make sure that we respect the sustainability standards and perfect the quality of what we offer.

But there are a lot more to come, so stay tuned.

With Love, Tor
